The Queen’s Room is now open 👑
In celebration of the 80th anniversary of Dansk-Norsk Samarbeid, we have, for the first time in Lysebu’s history, brought together two Queens in a joint art exhibition in the beautiful Hammerich Room. 🖼️
Her Majesty Queen Sonja of Norway has generously loaned the watercolor Fjell IV, along with three ceramic plates. Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark has contributed four watercolors from the Windows series—works specifically selected to harmonize with Lysebu’s unique architecture. The series also highlights Lysebu’s significance as a national gift during World War II.
The exhibition will run throughout 2026 as part of the anniversary celebrations. We are both proud and grateful to share this unique experience. This artistic dialogue between Norwegian mountain formations and Danish window motifs marks 80 years of Danish-Norwegian cooperation and unity. The exhibition reflects the two queens’ shared vision of strengthening the cultural bond between our nations.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed speeches during the opening, and to the press who attended and covered the event. You can read more in the article below.
We would also like to extend our warm thanks to Maren Selvvaag and Natalie Sandtorv for a beautiful musical performance, featuring original compositions inspired by poetry from Lysebu’s history. It created a truly special atmosphere for the opening ✨
Welcome to the Queen’s Room!
