The Art at Lysebu
Over the years, a significant collection of art has been assembled, including paintings, drawings, and statues that adorn the premises and outdoor areas at Lysebu.
In 2007, the Fund for Danish-Norwegian Cooperation entered into a unique collaboration with Henie Onstad Art Centre, where works from the Art Centre’s collections were exhibited here at Lysebu. This collaboration has been named “From Fjord to Mountain.” You can experience no less than 84 works by 28 Norwegian and Danish artists in various techniques including painting, photography, graphics, and sculpture.
Together with the Fund’s own art collection, this forms a unique and extensive collection.
If you have an interest in art, you will enjoy wandering around our premises and discovering various artists, both well-known and lesser-known. For example, you can find works by Munch and I.C. Dahl in our lounges, as well as a sculpture by Dyre Vaa in the stairway to the Children’s House. Our restaurant, Skogstuen, is named after Per Kirkeby’s painting, which was painted for our restaurant as payment for a stay with us. This part of the restaurant is adorned exclusively with Per Kirkeby’s art.
Henie Onstad Art Exhibition at Lysebu
From Fjord to Mountain
A meeting between the fairy-tale castle in the forest and the art center by the fjord has resulted in works from the Henie Onstad collection being displayed at Lysebu. This unique collaboration has made Lysebu a permanent exhibition venue for art deposited from Henie Onstad.
Lysebu is primarily a place for meetings between people, and Henie Onstad is a place for encounters with art. By combining these two, we invite our guests to an inspiring experience. The focus is primarily on Nordic artists, with a strong presence of Danish artists. We invite you to look for art by artists such as Jan Groth, Ulf Valde Jensen, Carl Nesjar, Kjell Nupen, Zdenka Rusova, Inger Sitter, Kåre Tveter, Jakob Weidemann, Daginn Werenskiold, Sverre Wyller, Per Inge Bjørlo, and many, many more.
