Art and History Tour at Lysebu
Welcome to a very special art and history tour at Lysebu, led by our director Pernille Christensen.
Program
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Foundation for Danish-Norwegian Cooperation, we have, for the first time in Lysebu’s history, brought together two queens in a joint art exhibition in the beautiful Hammerich-stuen, which has now been renamed Dronningstuen.
H.M. Queen Sonja has generously lent the watercolor Fjell IV as well as three earthenware platters. H.M. Queen Margrethe has, for her part, provided four watercolors from the series Windows—works specifically selected to harmonize with Lysebu’s unique architecture and a series that marks Lysebu’s significance as a national gift during World War II.
The exhibition will remain throughout 2026 as part of the anniversary celebration, and we are both proud and grateful to be able to share this unique experience. This artistic meeting between Norwegian mountain formations and Danish window motifs marks 80 years of Danish-Norwegian cooperation and unity. The exhibition reflects the two queens’ shared desire to strengthen the cultural bond between our two nations.
Experience the art collection, which includes works deposited by H.M. Queen Sonja and H.M. Queen Margrethe, along with over 85 works from the Henie Onstad Kunstsenter and Lysebu’s own collection.
This somewhat hidden gallery offers powerful art experiences in unique surroundings.
We conclude with a meal where all participants will receive one of our famous Danish smørrebrød and a sweet temptation from our own pastry shop.
We are hosting art and history tours with refreshments on both May 11 and May 27.
